Gunhild is a private in the Royal Army. She’s headstrong and reckless, but she’s also the best troll hunter in the country. When a troll gets away with a national treasure, she’s the only person with any chance of getting it back.

Kirabo was on his way home to Aberash after a fulfilled research mission, but he managed to enter the wrong coordinates into his spaceship. Now he and his PA robot are stranded on a far-off planet, and they don’t have enough fuel to get back home.

As genres collide on Troll Island, Earth, the troll hunter and the space explorer have to overcome their differences and work together if they want to survive this fairytale.

What a great breath of fresh air this book gives. Yes all the elements have been done before, but never together. But more importantly the pulling together of the elements is brilliantly done. Great characters and beautiful storytelling.

GoodReads user Matthew Cobb

It was so different than a lot of YA books I've read in the past and not just because of the world and the characters, but just because of the fact that it was almost like a sci-fi movie. It had trolls, aliens, robots, a middle earth type feel to Gunhild's world, not to mention very awesome action scenes that kept the book fun and fast paced.

The Bookworm Central

There’s [...] a good element of suspense, anticipation, and theme that made this read worthwhile. This author has great skill in crafting a story. Highly recommended!

The Writing Train

The story is pretty fast-paced and you’ll have no trouble diving right into it. As things progress there’s a surprising amount of depth that’s revealed.

Illuminite Caliginosus

Petrified is THE most unique YA novel I read this year. It’s like Lord of the Rings meets Independence Day except the main character is a kick ass teenage heroine and a sassy robot side kick thrown in the mix.

Donnielle Tyner

Mesmerizing from the first page to the last, the plot is well-structured, action-filled, intense and even touching and ends with a twist [...].

GoodReads user Wendy

This book had a good mix of humor, action, suspense, and imagination. I laughed, loudly, several times when reading the dialogue of Kirabo's sarcastic robot sidekick. The action scenes were aplenty but I didn't feel as if they took over the story.

Up 'Til Dawn Book Blog

[Gunhild's] personality was really admirable, she instantly became my 3rd favorite female protagonist; 1st and 2nd being Katniss Everdeen and Magpie Windwitch, respectively.

GoodReads user Samantha Abigail

I don't want to spoil too much of the story, but I'll say that I really enjoyed the mash-up of different genres, it makes the book a surprising and fun read.

Amazon user Per Eide

This book was a different read for me but I really did enjoy it. A face paced read that had me hooked from the beginning. I loved how the author did his writing it was so good.

Books, dreams, life

Although apparently aimed at young adults, I think this book would appeal to any age, especially children who would get a kick out of the robot.

GoodReads user Nancy Townsend

"Oh no, yet another Katniss/Triss somewhat dystopian feminist YA novel?" After 20 pages I was rolling my eyes so hard it hurt. And then everything changed for the better.
