Hi! My name is Olaf Moriarty Solstrand. I am – or I’m trying to be – a writer. So far I’ve mostly written scripts for comic book stories (first and foremost, I’ve written a lot of Donald Duck stories), but I’ve also written and self-published a fantasy novel.
I was born July 29, 1982 in Oslo, Norway. I currently live in Ski, Norway, with my wife and two lovebirds, and when I’m not writing (let’s be honest here, I spend a lot of time not writing), I’m a full-time librarian at Ski public library (or I’m playing videogames).
I have been writing Disney comics for the Danish publisher Egmont Creative Center since late 2001. As of August 2016, 60 of my stories have been published (according to the INDUCKS database, my stories have been published in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, The Netherlands, Finland, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, France, Iceland, Brazil, Greece, Estonia, China, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Latvia, Slovakia, Croatia, Egypt, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Portugal, Lithauania, Italy, Indonesia and the United States).
I have a Master’s Degree in documentation science from Tromsø University.
In 2010, I had the great honour of winning the Raptus Prize – awarded by the Raptus comics festival to people who’ve made important contributions to Norwegian comics – in addition to writing comics, I’ve also engaged a lot in digital comics and among other things built a website where anyone who wants to can publish their own webcomics. My Master’s thesis was also about webcomics.
